I just interviewed at a couple of schools that accept a letter of interest. If I am really interested in a school, when is it appropriate to send the letter? I am considering doing it as soon as possible, but is it more appropriate to hold off?

They already know that you're interested in them because you not only applied, but attended the interview. What more can an LOI tell them other than you feeding their neediness, or letting them see you grovel?

Wait until wait list time (if that's your fate).

Does it make a difference if in the interview itself, the ADCOM said they welcome LOI's? Or do all med schools say that?

I only know of a few med schools that welcome LOI (Jefferson, Gtown, Mayo, maybe U Penn). There are schools that specifically state that they don't.

When in doubt, ask the Admissions dean.

If they actually took the time and went to the trouble to say it in the interview, and you are in fact interested, why are you posting here and what are you waiting for? Exactly whose permission here do you need to comply with a suggestion or request made during your interview?????????????????????????????

Maybe it's a test to see if you are capable of using your own judgment, or need to listen to me or @Goro to know what to do!!! 😉
