So I took at field research class last semester, which was taught by 3 professors. I got to know all three of them really well and they are big names in their respective fields. Do you think it is better to get a letter of recommendation from just one of them or to have one letter cosigned by all three professors? I was thinking that a letter signed by 3 professors might look pretty impressive, but the letter might also lose it personal touch if it was co written ("we think..." versus "I believe that...")

keep in mind that I have two other letters that are also co written so most of my letters already are written in the "we" format. Is it more important to get a letter from an individual that know me well, or a letter signed by three people that all know me well?

Also, will having a letter cosigned by three equal professors be an issue when I'm filling out the primaries (is there a space for me to put down all three authors as equivalents)

Thanks!

Just wing it. Ask them if they want to write you a letter. They might not all be down with co-writing/signing; or maybe one would want to write his own; and maybe one doesn't care enough about it beyond slapping a signature on one that you prepare yourself. Get my point? See what they're willing to do, but I would think that two or three individual letters would actually be stronger than one that is cosigned. Each can be more personal, concise and cover different topics, rather than one, long (perhaps rambling) essay...but maybe that's just me. On the other hand, how many letters do you really need from professors saying that you would be a great doc someday? Your call.

As for the amcas app, there is a text field to enter the author's name, title, and contact info. There may be a character limit, so you probably can't write out all three names, but if i did a cosigned letter i would just pick one author and have all the authors include their info in the letter itself.

I would probably as each to write their own. Have them send to your online letter service. So you'll have three individual letters in your letter service. From that point on, you can pick one to send to all schools, and perhaps one more for the schools' supplementary application.

I think you are in a very fortunate situation, so take advantage of this situation to optimize your app.
