Okay, so I was banking on a certain professor giving me a letter of recommendation. I have stayed in contact with him, attended his office hours, asked good questions, had an A+ in the class. However, I asked him for one, and he said that in a class with 200+ people, he also needs my TA's letter of reccommendation attached. Although I did attend every office hour of this TA and made sure to participate in class activities, I took the class a year ago, and now I'm not sure if I will be able to get a letter of rec if the TA says she forgot who I am or if the TA just decides not to do it. This is my only person I can ask for a letter of rec for a humanities class? Any thoughts on what to do?

If I have 3 science, 1 research, 0 humanities how bad will that look?

I asked a science professor from over two years ago that I had never spoken to through email. He said he would be honored to write me a recommendation.

Just ask and be respectful if they decline. I'm sure you will be fine. More than likely the TA will help with the letter of recommendation and make it even stronger. If it doesn't work out, you've probably taken more than one humanities course. Try someone else.

Schools might have different letter requirements. I think most of the time humanities isn't even required, as premed and upper-division science courses are stressed. But it's safer to find one anyways just in case, as it can always be an extra letter in support of your character/academic excellence.

Have you saved (electronically or hard copy) any of the assignments you wrote for that class? Forwarding a couple of them to the TA along with your request may jog the TA's memory. Maybe attach a photo of yourself to the email, too.

I'm not sure if this is relevant to you, but I'll pass along the information anyways. I called about 50 schools that I had on my initial list for application and about 45 of them said they accept math letters as non-science. So if you can't get a letter from a humanities teacher, a math letter might be a good option for you to consider.

I've taken research as course credit under my biology major, so could my PI count at a science professor?

I'm not sure yet. He hasn't replied yet. I'm just imagining the worst case scenario. :/

My other humanities classes were too long ago to ask for a letter of recommendation. I took 2 but I never spoke to those professors before in which I had the highest grades in both classes. Should I email them as well?

I do have 3 science teachers who are eager to write a letter of rec for me. Both my research postdocs are happy to write a letter of rec. I don't know how to get a humanities letter of rec if this doesn't pan out since the other humanities classes, I just really never talked to the professor. Those were 300+ classes, but both professors announced my name multiple times since I always got perfect scores in their class. Would that be grounds to ask for one?

I had 5 letters - 4 science/Research PI, and 1 employer/supervisor. Didn't hold me back.

Sorry to hijack this thread...but I actually had a question about humanities LOR
so, luckily my public health professor and english prof both agreed to write LOR for me so:
1. does public health count as a humanities?
2. should i send schools the public health one or english one?
