After submitting your secondary, can you still add in more/new letter of rec?

How will the school know to download it from AMCAS? Or, do you need to send the specific school saying there is a new letter of rec?

Thanks.

According to the "Letters of Evaluation" tab in the AMCAS application:

You must create an entry for each letter of evaluation being sent to AMCAS. Up to 10 letter entries may be created. Letter entries may continuously be added throughout the application process; however, after submission of your application, letter entries can not be edited or deleted.

So yes, you can add letters during the cycle. It will be up to you to then forward it to your schools once it's received by AMCAS.

Usually, your file is complete at a school once everything is received (secondary essays, payments, LORs etc). Submitting another letter sometime after you were already marked "complete" would probably put you at the bottom of the review pile if your file hasn't been looked at yet. Even more, I would suspect that the additional LOR would delay your app or not even be looked at (ie thrown out). But, it really depends on the individual school since they each have their own policies on this topic. This part of the app process is very specific to each school, so it would be best to call them and find out.
