A number of schools I'm applying to have "science faculty member" listed as a required letter of recommendation. Does this have to be a professor who has taught you for a class, or could it just be a professor in a science department? A few schools specify "has to be a professor who taught you in a class", but was just wondering what peoples' experiences were with the non-specified ones. Thanks.

I'm having trouble seeing the "why" to this question. Are you planning on asking some random science professor to write you a letter for medical school after never having you in class?

I know a number of science professors whom I have worked with through either a job or research that I think would write a better letter than someone whom I just took for a class and had limited interaction with. I do have one letter from a professor that taught me, but a lot of programs ask for 2 from science faculty.

Okay that makes much more sense! I think that unless they specify "who has taught you in a class" then you should be good!
