Hi guys, I’m asking one of the doctors I shadowed to submit a letter of recommendation for me. He wrote it for last cycle but I ended up not applying. I’m applying this year and he didn’t mind re-submitting it. However, should he change the date? Or keep the date for when he wrote it? He dated it around the time I shadowed him. Thoughts?

He should definitely update the letter and the date. Having a letter of rec from a doctor you only shadowed doesn't mean much - just FYI. It's better to have someone who knows you better write it.

I also have a pre-committee letter and a letter from my English/Literature Professor!

Is there no one else you can ask? Anybody who taught you in a science (usually required), anybody who supervised you when you volunteered, anybody who you did research for?

A majority of the science teachers that taught me were on the committee so wouldn’t it be redundant? I even tried asking my professor who is also my advisor and on the committee and he claimed that he was already writing me one due to the committee letter so I feel like asking my science professors is pointless. As for volunteering, I only did it for about 40 hours so I’m not sure if the director in charge would write me one. And again, the person I did research with was also a professor who is on the committee team :/

That question is better for the adcoms on here but if the committee letter is speaking at length about your science abilities and research abilities, then I suppose you can do that. I'm not familiar enough with that.
