Hello all SDN'ers...

I have a question I need your help with.

I am just finishing up 3rd year at a DO school.

According to the current plan I am making, I will finish my away..."audition"...rotation on OCT 9th. If I ask for a LOR..i assume it should be in by OCT 31st. Is this too late?

I will have applied already but will I get interviews if i only have 2 LORs or will residencies wait until i get all 3 LORs in my file?

Bottom Line: When is the latest I can submit LORs and still have it count (and get interviews)?

Thank you all for your help,

MJJ

each residency program has it's own set deadline most i think are in Decmeber sometime. So you have to have a completed application by then. however most residencies already fill their interview spots by then so you're really gambeling by handing in your application late. I think most have their applications complete by the end of sept.

if a residency program interviews you depends on a lot of things, which specialty is it, if it's some think like Ortho I heard they don't even send out interview invites until they get to see your MSPE letter which comes out Nov1st. if its im fm or whatever i hear people who have 5 or more interviews a week after they send out parts of their application. it also depends on your other states, Step scores, GPA, other LORs COMLEX scores, if you're well above the average candidate that they normally see they might offer an interview with out a complete application if not they might not. however if your application is complete and they ran out of interview dates then you won't get on no matter what that letter of rec said.

so is the end of oct. late? i think so cause it takes at least a week for ERAS to scan your letter before it become available, and how fast the MD will write the letter depends on him/her if they're slow or busy or go on vacation it might take longer. or he/she might use a standard letter and it might take 1 day to just fill your name in.

lots of variables anything can happen. have people gotten interviews with out a complete application absolutely, have some not? of course.
