So I am planning to apply during summer 2013 and submit amcas in early June. When is a good time for me to come up to my professors and give them my personal statement, resume etc. so that they can start working on the recommendations? Maybe early April since they can have like 2 months to work on the recommendations and submit it?

Also, one of my science professor is now teaching in another country, so I think it would be much more convenient for him to submit the rec electronically. That shouldn't be a problem if he uses Interfolio right?

Thanks!

The earlier you ask the better IMO

That's something you need to do now. Give them enough time. Remeber the an emergency on your part is not an emergency on their part. Don't have them rush out a LOR just because you waited too long.

Yep, if you know who you want to write it, just go ahead and talk to them now. If anything (which happened with one of my letter writers), they will just ask you to talk to them again later and will agree to write it quickly at that time.

So if they ask for a specific deadline, I can just tell them to submit the letters by at the latest mid june and I should be fine?

Late may. They might miss deadlines.

no problem if using Interfolio. they allow letter writers to submit electronically or send the letter to them through the mail
