Hey there, I would appreciate some advice from adcoms or others that have experience with something like this. I graduated with my RN and obviously spent the last couple years of my undergrad taking Nursing classes. Because of this I don't have a lot of science professors that I feel comfortable asking a letter of recommendation from. However, during undergrad I tutored a Pathophysiology course for 2 years and know the professor fairly well. This class consisted of PharmD students, nursing students, Pre-therapy, and often Pre-med students. The problem is the class is listed as nursing course rather than a science course. Would getting a letter of recommendation from this professor be frowned upon since it has a NURS course label on it or not? Thanks in advance for any advice

My instinct is that this is going to be a school-by-school kind of thing. Some schools are very specific in their application instructions as to what types of letters of recommendations will fulfill their requirements. If you feel like there's some ambiguity, I would contact the school directly and ask them if that situation would be acceptable.

The professor doesn't need to identify where the course was taken. Or its identifier. Just saying it was pathophysiology should be enough

Hey everyone,
I have a bit of a complicated situation. This professor couldn't scan his letter in to Interfolio for me and he wants me to do it for him. Could I just make an email for him to submit it under? I guess I'm just confused what schools can see when its submitted under Interfolio - can they see which email its submitted under?

Scan it in, and email it to him, and then he can submit it.

One of my letters of recommendation came from my Pathophysiology professor, and it counted as one of my science letters. I think you should be fine as long as the professor writing it for you was the professor who taught the class when you took it. Also, on the AMCAS, or any secondary application (that I completed), you never have to specify what the course you took with the professor.

And quoted directly from the 2018 AMCAS Applicant Guide:
If you select Individual Letter, you may enter a Letter Title (it’s optional and visible to medical schools). Next, you’ll answer, Is the author associated with a school? If the answer is Yes, you’ll be prompted to select the associated school from the Select School drop-down menu. Finally, you’ll fill in the fields for the Primary Contact’s information, including address, phone number, and email address (all required fields).

Hope that eases some of your concerns. 🙂
