I was wondering for those of you that are techs, did any of you ask for LoR's from your nurse manager? I currently work in the ED and have no problem obtaining letters from doctors, however I was thinking why not ask one from my nurse manager? After all she does supervise me and is my boss. Would a letter from the nurse manager even carry any weight for a pre-med?

Employer letters matter. It doesn't matter that your employer is a nurse.

Better to obtain one from or at least cosigned by your ED medical director. (If you're an EMT, that's whose license you're legally working under anyway -- at least in my state.)

What are you hoping for this letter writer to showcase? A letter from a direct supervisor can highlight qualifications that letters from other people probably can't. So, if your nurse manager knows you well, is willing to write you a strong letter, and can speak to your qualifications better than others can, I'd think it would be a good one. On the other hand, if you have others writing who will cover the same qualifications or who you have known in a similar capacity, it might be worth branching out for more variety.
