I was working at a dental office for 4 years, and I want to go for pharmacy .. Do you think it's a good idea to ask for a letter of recommendation from the dentists?

Yes, definitely. Have them highlight those skills that transferable to all areas of employment/health care such as patience, diligence, interest in patient care, etc... I think you should sit down and talk to them specifically about how you want them to frame your letter, and since you've been there for 4+ years, I'm sure they'll let you in on the editing process.

But do make sure your letters come from other sources...go work/volunteer at a pharmacy, and make sure you have science faculty letters as many schools require those as well.
