Hi all,

For those who're applying to medical schools this cycle, best of luck to you! I am also applying this cycle and was wondering if anyone can answer this question for me.
So I have collected my letters of recommendations with Interfolio. The first time I applied to medical schools, they didn't have the feature to send the letters directly to online application system so I had to send the letters to schools directly from Interfolio, which ended up costing arms and legs. So this time, I will be sending my letters to AACOMAS/AMCAS directly so the letters can be distributed to each schools from the online application system(much cheaper!). However, I am still editing my personal statement at this moment and last night, I asked Interfolio to send the letters to online application systems(of course, I filled out the evaluation portion of the letters on AACOMAS/AMCAS).

So my question is, would this be OK? I haven't submitted my application yet. I mean, my applications are open and getting filled currently and I believe that interfolio will definitely upload the letters to online application systems with the IDs attached, but can the letters still be sent to them even though I haven't submitted my application? I guess this situation is kinda similar to having transcripts sent to them before officially submitting the application?

Thanks for your help

Yes they will send the letters while your app is open or even if you submit if before hand. Interfolio to ACMAS requires you to make an entry in AMCAS first, get a letter ID and then go to Interfolio to submit. AACOMAS uses an email system, so interfolio gives you a unique email to use as your recommendors email in the app. You are fine.

Just in case you liked the Interfolio system -- It costs $48 for 50 deliveries now, instead of charging per delivery like before.
