So I'm a little confused about the letter of references with pharmcas.
Will my reference actually write a letter of recommendation and submit it electronically to pharmcas? Or will they just be asked questions and answer them? I saw this on the pharmcas website. http://www.pharmcas.org/applicants/evalquestions.htm
It says 2005 so I'm not really sure if that's how it exactly is. So will my teacher/pharmacist/supervisorbe filling out this form or something similar to it online?

I'm asking to make sure because one of my references sent me her letter she wrote a while back and asked if there were any errors or if she needed to add anything.

She probably won't need that letter right? Unless she wants to use it as a guide to answer the questions on the form.

when you submit your PharmCAS application, you will need to provide the names and contact info of your LOR writers/reference. Then PharmCAS will email them the instruction of how to submit the LORs online. I never asked my reference how they did the PharmCAS LORs. But my guess is that they have to answer some questions and also submit the LORs online. So your reference above would probably need that letter and submit it that online when PharmCAS emails her.

If you really need to know, call PharmCAS to find out (duh) 🙂

That's what I thought too. Okay thank you so much. I will call them.

Hi

any update on this?

My professor tried to upload a rec letter for me but he says the website is telling him that the 2014 cycle is closed and the new one will not be open until july 15th. Will this affect schools with rolling admissions? I was hoping to turn in my app early June.

Anyone try submitting rec letters using his or her school's rec letter service? I go to UCLA and we have a service that collects rec letters and then mail/submit it to desired destination. I read on PharmCAS website that they don't accept it from these services but you can try to submit the LOR directly to the schools you're applying. Has anyone tried this?

Thanks!

I thought some schools do not like people sending LORs directly to them unless asked to. I went to UCI and we had a similar service and the UCI one refunded my money for that program because PharmCAS basically phased it out where LORs are all online now. And I believe you can only start uploading LORs when the actual admission cycle for the year you are applying to opens and that shouldn't really affect anything since july 15th would be the first day the cycle opens.

Also the online LORs from the Pharmcas website isn't just a letter. But the writer also has to rank you (I think survey style) and fill out some information regarding themselves

Yes I called PharmCAS and they said that your evaluator will have to rate you on certain things, like the things that were on the link I showed up there. They will also have to answer the questions in the comments section and will have a place to upload their letter of recommendation.

Okay. I called them too and thats what they told me. So there's basically nothing we can do until the app opens in July 15?..
