letter to first choice?

Has anyone or is anyone planning on writing a letter to their first choice? I was thinking of writing a letter to the chair and or program director stating why I like the program and that I'm going to rank them one...

is this wise?

I can't imagine how it'll necessarily hurt? especially if your'e pretty sure they're ranking you highly and just wanna reassure them that they're your top choice.

Likely can't hurt, but also likely won't help. Most programs formulate their rank lists immediately after the last round of interviews (i.e., that day), while everything is still fresh in their minds. A letter from you probably won't make them change your rank position--I can't guarantee it, of course.
