I start medical school in September and have been significantly involved in dermatology: I've assisted with 5 clinical trials, have done patient histories for derm clinic, and I've been working on a derm chart review study. I'll be a co-author for the publication.
My question is: I'll be stopping my derm involvement soon to start med school. What should I request to help me later with derm residency match? Should I now request LORs from the 2 physicians that I work with? Should I now request a review of my contribution? One of the physicians is a faculty member at a medical school other than the one I'm attending. How should I stay in touch with her? Should I attend her clinics and Grand Rounds periodically over the next 4 years? How often? Should I ask her for an LOR now or when I apply for residencies?
Thanks!
