Letters of interest vs intend

Hi guys,
I am a little unsure what's the difference between a letter of interest and a letter of intend. Would it be okay if I send a letter of interest to one of the schools that I haven't heard back from just to give them an update and tell them that I am very interested in their program? However I was waitlisted to another school and I would like to send them a letter of intend in the near future. The school I haven't heard from is my top choice so I thought maybe an update might help? Has anyone send those before? Also is it bad to be send into two schools, even tho one is letter of interest and the other letter of intend?

You mean a letter of intent? They’re basically the same, just write to the school expressing your interest in their program and your intention to attend if you are accepted. Whether or not it makes a difference, nobody knows

Once again, nobody knows whether a letter of interest/intent actually makes a difference or not. It’s up to you on what you feel is right!
