Hey guys,

So the schools I'm applying to require an online method of submitting the LORs. My school's career center also offers a letter services where they would basically hold your letters for up to 5 years. I'm a bit puzzled by the difference between these two methods. If the schools require the sender to email their letters, then what is the point of the letter services? Let's say I'm applying to 5 schools, should my senders receive 5 separate emails and submit to different schools individually? I'd really appreciate your advice!

Thanks a lot! 🙂

I never saw the usefulness of those letter services. Most programs I have seen require letters directly from the professors. Some programs will send emails to professors whose emails you had listed in the application prompting them to submit letters on your behalf and/or fill out evaluation forms. I'm not sure what programs you're applying to, but I am not aware of a central application/letter submission service for MSW/MA programs. I know for Public Health, there's something called SOPHAS where your professors only need to submit letters once to it; it then would distribute the letters to your schools of choice.
