Hi All,

So I work at a PT clinic with several therapists and have already asked one for a letter of rec for applications this fall. For the programs that require a second therapist LOR, do you think it would be in my best interest to ask a therapist I have shadowed elsewhere for my second letter?

I think I would have a higher quality letter coming from my clinic, but I bet it would help my application to have one from somewhere else as well.

I did ask both therapists at my job. Schools haven't specified that it needs to be from a non paid position or separate clinics so I got two super strong letters that I am happy with!

It's better to have two strong letters from PTs who know you well. My two PT references are from the same clinic where I am a rehab tech.

I was under the impression that some schools required your LOR from two physical therapists to be from separate clinics. Could someone confirm if they have found any schools that require this? I am trying to go back and find where I saw that but now I can't find it and am thinking I may have made it up!
Thanks!!

Some schools might, but not all by any means. You have to check on PTCAS for the schools or on the school's webpage. They are all over the place. Some want just PT's. Some don't want any PT references, and just want academic references, etc. I haven't seen any that specify they want them to be from different clinics, but there may well be some like that out there.
