I was just wondering if anyone can tell me when to ask for letters of recommendation if im applying this summer...and when should I start the application process.

ask NOW, and apply as close to the middle of may as possible.

last year i asked my teachers in january, reminded them again in april, and applied in early june. and i am very glad i did things early.

YES I agree! I already asked for mine and will get them sometime the 16th ish of this month

--- I have a question though --- who do they write the letter to when they write it ---

My professor asked for a salutation for the letters and I have no idea what to tell him??? Any ideas on this? I wouldn't think it would sound good to put to whom this may concern!

your professor asked you this?!? What has he never written a recommendation letter before??

"Dear Sir or Madame" begins every single professional letter that is not directly addressed to anyone !! C'mon folks this is basic etiquette rules here!

I will be applying for dental schools in 2 years. Can I get my prof to write the LOR now, and I will sent it by myself whenever I am ready to apply (~2yrs)? Or Is it just too early? Thanks!

well, I will apply next summer, and I already asked 2 of my professors to write a LOR for me since they know me very well, but you probably don't want them write too early, because you might done something else later that you want them put it in the letter. so I told them I won't apply until next summer, and I told them take their time, I will contact them before the application process getting closer. It turns out they are very happy to keep in touch with me in the next year or two. Hope it help~ 🙂
