Hi all! Had a few quick question about LORs:

1. Do all science LORs have to come from science professors? I ask this because one of my letters is from a lecturer of a 5 unit statistics course.

2. For non-science letters, does it have to be from a non-science professor at the university? I have one from a volunteer program and several doctors, would those not count?

Thank you for helping me out 🙂

to answer your question, it is school specific but the usual recommendation is at least 2 from science professors and I think statistic is fine but maybe you should fine a chem/bio (something relating to biological systems) professor as well just to be safe.
Non-science is usually referring to non-science professors (humanities courses such as psychology, political science, language etc.)
The physicians and volunteer program rec are additional and recommended to some extends but the most important one are the science and non-science letters!
It's also very to search up LOR requirement for each school! you can easily google any school and they all have very specific policy!

Both of your questions depend on the school. Most schools limit "science" to biology, chemistry and physics. And if a school literally says "non-science" then I assume they mean a non science professor before otherwise they could have just said "non-academic".
