I hope this hasn't been answered before, but I haven't seen it in my searches.

I am starting to think about my LORs, and am unsure about my academic one. Since I go to a huge university, where the average class size of nearly all my classes have been 200+, I don't really have a professor that knows me well from my Chem/Bio classes. However, earlier this summer I took a nutrition class, did really well, and the teacher (4th year PhD so almost a prof) knows me really well. I guess my main question is, would a letter of rec from the nutrition class be acceptable? Or should I really get one from a Pre-Pharm professor?

Thanks!

The LoRs that I got are from classes that have 300+ students. You should attend office hours and make an impression to the professor. They do not need to get to know you that well to write you a letter. You can supply them with your info, such as a CV, personal statement, and transcript to help them write about you.
A nutrition class prof is fine but you have to be sure that he's a PhD because some schools do not accept LoRs from assistant prof who doesn't have a PhD. And you definitely do not need a LoR from a Pre-pharm prof. I would suggest getting one from an OChem prof. Good luck!

different schools specify which kind of referees they prefer right? and if they don't mention they have to be a pharmacist or prof of a specific course, i guess it's up to your own judgment whether a prof could write a letter containing relevant information about you for the relevant audience; i.e., such that the adcom can see your qualities and determine your fit for the profession. i guess that didn't help much did it =P
