When should you have your letters of recommendation ready by?

I will be getting a committee letter and probably one from my jobs and some nonscience ones.

They should be ready by late July to ensure you can be complete asap. One of my letter writers took until Oct. 8th to submit my letter. Needless to say, I was complete VERY late!

Hey there,

Is it hard to get a committee letter? I have a 4.0 for all my science pre-reqs, but my pre-health advisor just told me that if, for some reason, my request for a committee letter is denied, then I would have to have the profs/doctors/employers write them and send them out. I knew this, but I'm a little surprised that I got the heads up considering she knows my stats.

Am I just freaking out over nothing, or is there more to it than grades?

I have some solid ECs from undergrad and am currently volunteering at an ER and shadowing a doc.

Any advice? 😕

it depends on your school
where i go everyone who is premed automatically gets a committee letter
i think the best thing for you to do is talk to your advisor about it

I'm currently waiting her response. Apparently they have a good committee here, and not everybody is selected. You have to apply for it. 😱

OK...just got an email saying that some people are denied a letter. They look at academic record, motivation for medicine, first-hand exposure, and ability to communicate.
