I am a research assistant in radiology at a major Academic center.
My mentor will definitely write me a stellar LOR as we are now close buddies..
However the department is also the home of a very very famous man in the field.. and i know that with some a** kissing i could get a LOR from him as well.
would 2 LOR from radiology be ok or too much?

My 3rd LOR will be from some IM rotation attending commenting on my clinical skills and bed side manners.

any advice would help
thanks

I'm just a med student so take this with a grain of salt, but I think 2 LORs from radiologists would be excessive, unless your 2nd rads LOR is your 4th one (i.e. your primary 3 include only 1 rads).

I agree with above. I'd be worried that the letter from the "well known" dude would just end up being extremely generic because he doesn't really know you all that well. A very strong letter from someone you is not well known is better than a bland letter from a known guy. Now, a very strong letter from a known guy is of course, incredible, but it doesn't sound like you'd be getting a guaranteed strong letter.
