I was wondering if it would be worth it to send a letter of update for a new job? My role is essentially the same and I'm moving within the same industry (of pharmaceutical development) but just with a different company.

I don't know if it would be a waste of the adcoms' time since they role they know I'm in currently in is not much different for my new role at a different company. It's a very lateral transition that needed to be made since my current company relocated.

Unless they specifically ask for an update if you change plans you already told them about, then I would not send this.

I don't think they know my current role is ending soon but even so, it doesn't seem like it would add any "new" dimension worth mentioning. I didn't know if it would be a matter of obligation or not.

Eh my thought is if you aren't drastically changing anything, then probably not worth sending the update. That way if there is something that comes up in the future that you want to let them know about, it doesn't seem like you are just sending a million updates for the heck of it.
