Lever's and the boards

I'm a new first year derm resident and was wondering if it was common for other residency programs to require its residents to read Lever's Histopathology of the Skin? Is reading this all that helpful for prepping for the boards? I find it unbearable and believe my time would be better spent reading Bolognia and Rapini's but any advice is appreciated. Thank you.

I personally found the "smaller" books to be a little confusing without more background. Which is why I like Weedon. The new "small" Weedon book is pretty neat, imo.

Anyhow, I would think Lever to be useful in the same way. But then, I am not familiar with it. However, why not just supplement your Rapini reading with Lever's? Add notes from Lever into your Rapini?

First year Derm is like drinking from a fire hydrant (over used terminology). Perhaps a bit of the frustration is simply this as well? Just a thought.
