is it better to get the DI handbook or the lexi-comp software? the handbook is cheaper..around $50 versus the software is around $100 (lexi-complete with all the discount). Are they comparable? What happens after a year? The software just stops working or do you just not get updates?

Also would you need the Dipiro Pharmacotherapy if you have either Lexi-comp or the DI handbook?

I'd go with Lexi-comp as a first choice since it's faster to type the name in than flip through the book. Personally, though, I'll often look things up in both places. Although my first choice for electronic format is Clinicalpharmacology.com (the school has negotiated subscriptions for us). Their new interface is slick and easy to read.

Dipiro has nothing in common with either Lexi or DI. I'm a newb to the book and I have to say it's DENSE and topics are grouped by disease state/organ system, not drug name.
