I had a question I wanted to ask in regards to licensing. I am from Utah and am moving to Virginia for a PGY1 residency, however after my residency I may move to Oregon. I understand that your primary license can be obtained in any state. I guess my question is, if I were to select either Oregon or Utah as my primary state, would I be required to take that MPJE right now, or could I wait until I moved back from Virginia? I am assuming that I'll need to be fully licensed in my primary jurisdiction, however I do not believe I will stay out in Virginia so I don't think I want that to be my primary jurisdiction. My residency program is pretty strong on having me licensed before I start at the end of June and with preparing for that and in the process of selling a home right now, I'd like to avoid taking 2 MPJEs at the moment if possible. Any advice or thoughts from someone in a similar situation would be greatly appreciated.

You have a year to take the mpje for your primary state.

Focus on Virginia because you need that one to work now. Then pick a time (maybe December?) the mpje for your primary state
