How long does it take to get the dentist license in following states from your experience (for a recent grad)?-
CA-
Tx-
Washington DC-
Colorado-
Also, can one apply to multiple states for license at the same time on the basis of exam? If yes - are there any pros and cons (except for the fee) and will it matter if you have a license in one state but don't work there or it doesn't matter?
Any experience/thoughts?
Thanks for sharing.

CO is fast probably few weeks to a month. TX takes longer time. I don't know about CA, and DC. Yes, you can apply to multiple State at the same time and it's actually much better if you are new grade and not sure where you are going to practice as you save yourself the extra hassle of going through licensure verification from every state you have License in.

When I applied for a Texas dental license last year I was already practicing in another state at the time (didn't have to wait for final transcript to post, board scores, etc.). It definitely took me longer to round up all of the required information/documentation than it did for them to process the actual approval of my license. I can't tell you in exact # of days but it was around 3-4 weeks from the time that I submitted everything that I had been emailed a temp license. I've heard that Texas takes longer in the summer due to dental school graduations- probably the case with all states.

You can definitely be licensed in multiple states at one time, but due to the headache/paperwork/cost of obtaining + maintaining each license, I don't really see why you would want to do that unless they were neighboring states and you were definitely going to be working in both or all of them. Hope this is helpful- if you have more questions about the TX licensure process feel free to reach out.
