I have a few questions about CSPM, or more specifically the city that it is in...

1. How is the public transport in Oakland/San fran/Berkeley etc?
....subways, buses, etc.. etc.. (to/from school especially)
2. How are the people in Oakland (friendly or snubby)?
3. What is the coldest it gets?
4. What is the warmest it gets?
5.

6. Where to live? On campus or off campus?
7. Area that campus is in (good or bad)?
8. Driving in oakland good or bad? (I've heard horrible)
9. Cost of living... aka food/daily life needs
10. Crime rate
11. Your overall satisfaction or dissatisfaction w life in CSPM (general)

Sorry for two posts, I should have included this question in my first post about Miami Shores. Thanks, -DYK343

5. Buy an apartment/condo or rent?
...I'm estimating ~100,000$ for rent in 7 yrs (if residency is in the area)
or maybe just buy a condo for X amount (maybe ~200,000$ range?)?

1) BART, MUNI, Taxis are everywhere-long story short the pub trans is pretty top notch!
2) Varies depending on neighborhood
3-4) The bay area is micro climates like in the city its around 48-68 and like into oakland it can be anywhere from 45ISH-85 maybe up to 90 possibly its all variabe for the whole area because of the bay and the ocean nearby(which can be good or bad if you dont like micro climate coastal type weather...NO SNOW which is a plus 😛
5-6) Samuel merrit is leasing enough rooms to accomodate all podiatry students from an apartment complex just right off campus not too far away they are tearing down the current dorms (i dont know why i forgot if you wanna know, call) and the dorms will be like either 1 bedroom or 2 bedroom with parking and MAYBE MAYBE private garages but prolly just covered reserved parking(which is still not too bad)
7) the administration and faculty I talked to last friday said the ON CAMPUS crime rate is around 0.2% for like all crimes
8) driving sucks...im getting a vespa 75-80 mpg baby lol but for your first two years youd only need a car to get groceries back to your place or something (cause the public transportation can get you just about everywhere else.)
9) ITS THE BAY AREA AND ITS IN CALIFORNIA so needless to say youll need more to live the same in a less expensive place like at midwestern or at des moines university...could be important to mention tho that the aggregate student loan limit is 224000 now since april of 2008 SO THEORHETICALLY you could take out the make and be totally fine and live the high life....not to say that you should but youll always have more than enough financial aid to compensate for the higher cost of living(dont be too worried about carrying the extra student loans youll have to take out to compensate tho because if you decide to get a residency in teh bay area youll earn more too so it evens out SORT OF not completely but its somewhat alright)
10) its oakland its somethin like 3rd highest homicide rate in teh country and like 2 highest random acts of violence BUT ITS IMPORTANT TO NOTE i have family in the bay area and all i ever hear is ifyou live on pill hill(where campus is) or in the hilly parts of oakland(piedmont/montclair) the crime rate is hella LOW its like the flat poor areas and its a good general rule of thumb that if theres a S H I T ton of trash on the ground usually that means its a no good area lol
11) um..lol on a scale of 1-10 id say like 349093489879487 PM me if ya want for why I like the bay area but basically you could just look up like "bay+area+living" or something in google and youll find tons of reasons why ppl LOVE the bay 🙂

:luck:
