How long after recommendations are written can one use them for medical school? I am applying to school for 2005, but I am not sure if I am accepted that I will enter in 2005.

Also, if I cannot find information regarding deferring admissions in the college's literature, does it necessarily mean that the college doesn't offer this option?

Most schools do allow you to defer, they just never mention it anywhere. Just don't mention the topic until after you get accepted. I made that mistake at my first interview and got skewered (still got in though 😀 ). Just wait for your acceptance and ask after that. I had to write a letter to the dean explaining why I needed a year off. Good luck.
