Hey all. I recently graduated in May with my BS and am in the process of finishing up medical school prerequisites. Last semester, my first postbac semester, I was full time taking some courses I needed and some courses to enhance my application. This semester however there just is not a lot for me to choose from that would actually benefit me. Thus, I'm only taking general chemistry 2 and lab. Is this okay? I've been full-time for the past 9 semesters and graduated magna cum laude. My GPA is fine, and I'm on track to finish my prereqs in 2 more semesters after this one, which will consist of physics and organic.

Also, I work in an ICU, tutor, do research, and volunteer. Will these extracurricular activities offset the fact that I'm taking a lighter course load? I honestly just feel guilty about only taking a single class.

Honestly, it probably won't matter for you. All your grades and credits will be wrapped up in one average. It doesn't get broken up by year or semester post senior year.

Thanks for the insight. That's something I hadn't considered. So adcoms will only see the courses I took postbac but not necessarily when they were taken?

Print out your Post bac transcript, thats what the adcoms will see.

They can see when you took them, but the column that most of them will look at will just list your postbac GPA. It doesn't get split up into freshman, sophomore, etc.

When I open up my transcript, it shows the courses as Fall 2012, Spring 2013, etc. Out of 10 semesters in undergrad, this will be my only one as a part-time student, so hopefully adcoms will see that I haven't just taken it easy the entire time. My next two semesters of organic and physics will be barely part-time, as well, but those are still challenging semesters.
