What the heck is a limiting and excess reagent? I looked them up and read them from my chem book, but I still am not understand them. Help?😳

in the equation you have to get the amount of moles the reaction makes. The limiting reagent is simply the one that has less and the excess reagent has more. If you give me an example problem I can show you how it works

you can also go by grams

Limiting reagent - when a reaction takes place it is the first one to run out and limit how much product is formed

Excess reagent - when a reaction takes place it is the one that is present in excess, i.e. it doesnt run out there is more than enough. But then again you need to worry about Le Chatelier's principle.

CoFo I think you would really benefit from getting a tutor.

I think it is great you are using your resources trying to figure out your chem homework and wanting to do well. but we can only do soo much.
A tutor is there to help you with ALL of these questions you have.

you need to learn how to figure this information out on your own, that is one thing the sciences do. it teaches you how to think and learn on your own. not ask a message board everything about gen chem.

i agree with pchem grad. a couple of the questions you have posted that pertain to chemistry are very elementary and you will benefit greatly from a tutor.

we will always be available to help, but it will only help you so much.

jb!🙂

you should post these types of questions in the DAT forum.
