I don't know what to major in, I'm only a freshman in college so it doesn't really matter. I was thinking linguistics though. I plan on teaching English abroad before applying to medical school so that major would be helpful. The major has a lot of space for doing some med school pre req.'s. I really like languages and their structures so I think I would enjoy the classes. Plus, it has quite a few credits for learning a second language which would come in handy for practicing medicine.. I just don't know if it will affect my application to medical school since it's not a science major. Will it affect my application? Do you think they will think I majored in something useless? Are you really sure major doesn't matter? Because chances are already slim to get into med school for science majors and I don't want to ruin everything because of my choice of major. Thanks in advance 🙂

If you look up the statistics, non science majors experience a higher rate of success in medical school admissions than their science major counterparts, so you can be sure that you're at least not at a disadvantage. Major in whatever you want that will allow you to fulfill your intellectual curiosity and do well, at the same time.

As a humanities major, I found the VR section of the MCAT extremely easy, and, outside of a few practice passages, did little studying for it. Really helped free up time for other section tests.

Something to consider!
