Supplemental application question for a school.

I used to be ranked #15th in the world for a popular fighting game on xbox 360. I have a few other gaming accolades as well. Would this/these be stupid to put?

I've also done a fair bit of research, but these are already on my AADSAS application. Other than that, I work out a lot, tend to my aquariums, and watch netflix. No sports or anything.

Thoughts?

I don't know about putting video games on a supplemental lol. Most admissions committees are composed of an older generation that never played video games so I dont know how they would relate/view that kind of experience. The other activities you listed seem like hobbies, maybe you could elaborate on a specific aspect of your research you excelled at?

I say you should definitely put it! Dental schools LOVE interesting people, and in a few of my interviews the interviewers expressed that they think that our generation is at an advantage, as it relates to technology in dental care, given our experience with computers and such growing up. We had long conversations about how me being good at madden will help me in the office. I generally found interviewers to be open-minded and interested in getting to know what makes you unique. Top 15 is a big deal!

Good luck!

I think the gaming one is great, though I might be biased as a person who games as well haha. Its something different and top 15 shows that you're good at it, but also that you're proud of it. I always think that being proud of what you do is good.

Top 15 wow! Could you estimate out of how many players? I think that would provide some light to the magnitude of this achievement.

Thank you all for the advice! I think I'll put it.

I think there were around 300,000 players at the time, though only around 10,000 were active regularly. The game is Injustice: Gods Among Us! A sequel came out which I haven't played

I would put it and if you can talk about your success at maintaining aquariums? Assuming it's not as simple as filling the tank with tap water every week.

No disparaging the old guys. We played video games back in the day, albeit Pong and Missile Command. Oh, and Breakout.
We do know about competitive gaming, and you should include it, as well as the time you climbed K2 and planted the undergrad school flag at the summit.
Cautionary note:
Include only things we can verify. We will.
You’re interviewer’s son/daughter could be a professional gamer. Never assume ignorance.
