Now that most of you have done your interviews, lets hear some of the interview questions you can remember. If you had a particularly good answer to one or it seemed that the interviewer was impressed by your answer, lets hear how you answered the question as well.

Ive had plenty of job interviews in my life so I expect the questions to be sort of similar just dental oriented.

Well, why don't you use 'INTERVIEW FEEDBACK' pages?
It's well organized...
Check it out...

The only hard question I got was, "Do you have any questions about the school?"

Piece 'O Cake.

No one else has said it yet... so:

Why do you want to be a dentist?

I need to find a good answer for this. Money and great hours probably wont get me too far.

Those are the only 2 reasons that you can come up with? LOL

Most memorable question: "So, why'd your dad move to Alaska?"
My answer: "Because he is crazy."

True story.

The interview feedback IS the best resource we have here for this kind of research I think, because you can sort it by schools you are applying to.

I think it is REALLY important that you ask questions during an interview. One of my interviewers asked me only 1 question to initiate (What can you bring to the dental field?) and then I kind of took over to show that I had extensively researched the institution. From that point on, all of his questions were just related to our discussion and very opinion/mutual interest based.

The other I can remember mostly asked me Why I wanted dentistry over medicine and what my husband planned on doing since he would be following me from out of state (NY to VA).

Kinda in the same boat, what is your husband going to do?

Well, my interviewing was in October 2006 because I'm finishing up my 2nd year of dental school at VCU. When we moved here, he started temping for a company and freelancing (photographer) for the newspaper here. His temp job turned into a full time/perm position as a customer service rep to Latin America with a tobacco machinery company about 20 miles south of the city. It's pretty funny bc he is the most ANTI-tobacco person I know.

This way, his salary pays all of our living expenses and I take out loans for full school tuition. I'm in Richmond VA though... if I were in NYC going to NYU I think we would have a rougher time, so it really all depends on the circumstances.

Good luck to you. 🙂

Oh yea? Why don't you plan someone else to go in and interview for you as well?

Why Dental? Why X school? Why these grades? What can you bring to this school? Where are you from?

You want an answer to those? You figure it out, everyone here had to for themselves.

first thing one of on my interviews...*interviewer tosses my application on the table* and says "this shows you don't make mistakes. have you ever made a mistake?

"So..have you ever lived anywhere besides home when you went to college?"

"What's the third flat of C# major?"

how do you think the school should increase diversity in the student body? "As a minority, I was thinking to myself: you're looking right at the answer Mr.....BY ACCEPTING ME....that's how you can increase diversity"
what characteristics do you wish to have in your class mates?
tell me about a project that you initiated and how you went about working this project out?

Mainly because I'd rather have the discussion here.
I really have nothing useful to say that relates since will be applying this summer, but I agree that it would be nice to have lots of questions on 1 page.

How do you plan to finance your dental education?

What are your strengths/weaknesses?

Tell me about yourself.

How have you worked on your manual dexterity skills?

Describe a time you have shown compassion.

I don't know what your problem is, but I'll bet it's hard to pronounce.

That doesn't make sense

Sounds like the perfect set up. Hopefully things workout like that for me.
