Hello all,
If this thread looks familiar, it's because I posted my list of MD schools in pre-allo, and DO schools here. No double posting! I plan to apply to both, I have no bias towards one side or the other.
I am an Ohio resident and have been trying to compile a list of a few schools that are OOS friendly, as well as have lower admission standards. (I am not in denial about my GPA).
I plan to apply to my state school, and this list as well. Before I actually press the submit button for the first time, are there any schools that right away do not belong on my list due to my GPA or not being OOS friendly?
Note: I have a pretty obscure GPA, my AACOMAS calculated is 3.23 overall, 3.75 science. I also have a pretty extreme upward trend that started from a 1.45.
I also have all of the usual ER volunteering, hospice volunteering, some non-clinical volunteering, as well as research experience.
Any input would be greatly appreciated!
Current list in consideration:
-Georgia Campus - Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, GA
-Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine - Bradenton Campus, FL
-Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine - Erie/Seton Hill, PA
-New York College of Osteopathic Medicine of NYIT, NY
-Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine, FL
-Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine, OH
-Pikeville College, School of Osteopathic Medicine, KY
-Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine in New York, NY
-Touro University College of Osteopathic Medicine - California, CA
-West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine, Admissions Office, WV
-Western University College of Osteopathic Medicine - Pomona, CA
Note: I have not yet taken the MCAT (July 28), but I feel that I should do well. Sciences are not a weak point. I am just concerned about getting my application in as early as possible due to needing every advantage I can get!
