FA lists Klebsiella, Salmonella, H. influenza, Neisseria meningitidis.....is there any other? [when i read clin micro made simple i felt like there were many more]

also does any1 have a list of the best drug for each microorganism? many times goljan and FA list different drugs so i go w/ FA but FA doesnt list drug for each microorganism...any1 made a list of it that they'd like to share

SHiN + aspergillus spp. + klebsiella + salmonella + group B strep.

I dont think u have to know more than that

There are others like:
Cryptococcus
Bacillus anthracis
Salmonella typhi
S. agalactiae
Yersinia pestis (F1 envelope)
some E. coli

and remember histoplasmosis capsulatum is NOT encapsulated despite its name

here is a mneumonic according to the ones that are capsulated and often tested on USMLE:

" Some Killers Have Some Pretty Nice Capsules"

Some = Strep. Pneumoniae
Killers = Klebsiella
Have = H. influenzae
Some = Salmonella
Pretty = Pseudomonas Aeruginosa
Nice = Neisseria Meningitidis
Capsules = Cryptococcus Neoformans.

Hope that helps!

is there a good way to memorize which antibiotic works on which bacterias? (ie. mnemonics, etc)....i cant get em all in my head from first aid micro pharm section
