Does anyone have a list or link of schools that use Pass/Fail vs. H/P/F vs. A/B/C/D/F?

I need to cull down my list of schools and would love to go non-grade but can't find an authoritative list anywhere. MSAR doesn't have it and a search here didn't work for me.

Cheers...

UCLA is pass...or...pass. 😀

Case Western is unranked Pass/Fail. Actually uranked pass. 😛

Stanford is pass/fail, and I think yale is also pass/fail.

HMS too, unranked pass-fail

mmm...my dad told me to be skeptical of the "unranked" p/f. he said that they were always told that going through, but when he applied for residencies, his school's office told him he was right at the 60% mark overall.

not to scare all of the other already-neurotic pre-meds, but it makes sense that even if a school claims to be "unranked," there are still some people who keep up with it.

I can't speak for the others, but Pritzker is truly unranked. The administration has no knowledge of our grades beyond the P. I imagine others are like this too, as I'm sure Pritzker isn't entirely unique in this regard, but just to set the record straight.

That is true, some schools have only a pass/fail GRADE but they rank you internally. For example, i know MSSM is pass/fail, but there is a class ranking based upon your test scores for the first two years.

When you interview, be sure to ask very specifically if it is TRUE pass fail. At case (and i suppose pritzker), we either get a Pass, in each of the first two years, or we don't continue. No grades whatsoever are recorded on your transcript, nor will any of your first two year scores factor into your dean's letter.

yeah, but they did say at our interviews that in the end they do have to come up with some crude rankings because several residencies require that information. one way or another, everyone eventuall gets ranked in some form...

That's true. To clarify, the P/F I described above is for the first two years, which I assume is similar at other schools as well, and the grading during third year provides some semblance of a class rank. Stanford is the only school I've heard of the has P/F during the clinical years as well, but I'm not entirely sure about that.

UConn is a true pass/fail the first 2 years, and "honors-pass-fail" the last 2. We also do not have that honor society (ask yourself how a school can have a pass-fail unraked system and still give honors to the top 10% or whatever!).
