I'm a Canadian citizen studying medicine in U.S. I was wondering if there is a list of IM residency programs that sponser J1/H1b visa for international students out there? Thank you for your help.

Go to the NMRP website. In their list of programs and program stats, they specify which ones sponsor international grads.

Yeah, they used to have that info.Sorry about that. CHeck the link below. If they dont have it, you might want to send them an email to see if such a list exists.
Other than that, i guess you could just look at each program's website indivdually.

These are the guys that handle those visas so if anyone would know, its them.
Most programs take IMG with J1 visa as J1 visa is sponsored by ECFMG. H1b has to sponsored by the hospital/University.
There are 2 questions here.
Which programs take IMGs: Few few don't take them and I think there is no central data base you have to go the each and every program website.
Which program sponsor H1bs: Again, I think there is no central data base which hospitals/University Hospitals sponsor IMG with H1b visas. You have to go to each and every program website.
Another question should be, which programs routinely accept IMGs. Most high profile programs accept IMGs once in while but in general they don't. You have to do some search here as it has been posted here many times in the past.
