List planned volunteering in application?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I'm going to Nicaragua on July 17th with Vida (http://www.vidavolunteertravel.org/) but I'm going to submit my application after I take the DAT on July 3rd. Should I list this trip in the volunteer section of the application?

Thanks for the help.

Your experiences help you grow and you list them to show schools how you have GROWN. by listing experiences you ANTICIPATE on doing, that's kind of like putting down the activity for the sake of doing it. Just my 2c.

I see your logic, but I don't see what would actually differ between the information I could give *on the application* before or after the event. If I had asked about writing my personal statement about an event I had yet to experience, then I would agree with you. However, the volunteer section only asks you to list hours and a short description of what you did. It does not ask how the volunteering activity affected you or helped you grow.

I think it is fine as long as you are signed up and will actually be going. Just to let you know, I put a dental trip on my app that I hadn't gone on yet, and the trip got canceled the day before. Luckily, I have not submitted my app yet, and there is a similar trip every month (so I can still go). Just keep in mind that last minute changes do happen, especially with volunteer trips.

I was wondering the same thing, my volunteer hours are low now but I will be putting a lot more time into volunteering this summer, I plan on sending an update to the schools at the end of summer. I think getting the application in early then sending an update is better than waiting to send it in.
