-acid fast stain
-PPD = type 4 rxn
-1* infection: lower lobe; 2* infection: upper lobe
-latent in macrophages of lung
-drug resistance is a problem
-fever, weight loss, night sweats, hemoptysis
-BCG vaccine gives you a + PPD
-HIV+ patients may have PPD anergy
 
1)acid fast bacilli
2)lung- miliary TB {looks like millet seeds)
3)In vertebral column its called Potts disease
4)BCG vaccine DOESNT mean a person will always have a +PPD
5)PPD means only exposure to TB, not active disease
6)new-XDR-extremely drug resistant TB
7)granulomatous disease
8)airborne infection
9)INH/B6 is prophylaxis for 6-9 months
10)Good idea to rule it out in any lung symptomology esp. in immunocompromised
11)+PPD means do CXR
 
TB Tx:

R - Rifampin
I - Isoniazid
P - Pyrizinamide
E - Ethambutol
