Listing Research Paper as Achievement?

Hello guys,

I've read that research isn't a big deal in the dental community, but to me it really was in highlighting all of my undergrad till now; I'm currently still working as a RnD technician.

Four years of undergrad research work was very fortunate in allowing our lab to publish a research paper. My mentor/PI was very nice in also giving me primary authorship on the paper.

Besides listing this in my 'experience' section, can I also list research publication as an 'achievement' as a honor or award? If yes, how should I add this?

If you received an award or honor for the research, then put it under award and honors. If you did not receive an award or honor for your research, then put it under my experience.

Did you do this even if you received credit for the research? Or would the research paper/publication be a separate entity?

I'd consider it a separate entity.

I also took research for a credit. However, I do not think it voids being able to mention it in your experience if you continued to do research beyond taking it for credit for a quarter/semester.

You should absolutely list your paper on your application. Research is very important in dentistry, it is what the entire "evidence-based dentistry" movement is based upon.

I listed my pub as an Honor under Achievements.
