So for my clinic rotation, I had a patient that was on Aggrenox and Plavix for secondary proph (several TIAs during prophylaxis actually) at the insistence of the guy's neurologist. My easiest DI question from this was to see if there was any literature to support this.
Well I've spent the last three weeks banging my head against the wall, and none of the case reports, clinical trials or review articles I could get my hands on, mention using both of those for secondary prophylaxis. I've since emailed the respective companies and haven't heard from them (to be fair it's been ~ 1 week).
I'm loathe to spend all this time to put "According to the literature there is no basis for using both Plavix and Aggrenox together for secondary stroke prophylaxis." So knowing that about 40% of the articles out there I can't get for free through school, I wanted to see if someone specifically came across an article citing using these drugs together. This isn't a "hey do my research" it's "hey I'm not spending 25-65/article to see that it says the same thing as the other stuff." 😉
TIA
