Hey guys!

Have any of you heard from LIU or gotten an interview? I just got a call today for an interview on April 24th. I am debating if I should go or not... I haven't gotten accepted anywhere yet. I have been wait listed for one school and haven't heard back from two schools (I feel like it's far too late in the cycle but still keeping my fingers crossed).

Any suggestions? I live in Midwest so it would be expensive to fly out all the way to Brooklyn.... But it seems like a good program! I should've probably looked into this much more before applying ):

I interviewed back in November and got accepted. The reasons I chose not to go was due to the low graduation rate (~84% I think), and also because NYC didn't fit my personality (too fast paced, esp someone coming from California). It's also really expensive, I think even more than USC if you factor in COL.

But, it seemed like a quality program other than those factors. They have a 100% 1st time NPTE pass rate (just for this past year however...not sure what their 3 year average is). And some of the faculty participates in writing sections of the NPTE exam.

The interview was a 3 person interview which I did not really enjoy, but I felt like I did well in it. It seemed kinda like a business job interview, whereas my other interview was like a cool, casual conversation. Some questions I remember...

  1. "What's the difference b/t a PHD and a doctorate?
  2. If you could make one change to health care, what would it be?
The faculty seemed cool though, and it's in a great part of Brooklyn. Right near the Barclay Center. The LIU campus is also pretty cool and seems safe, as they have security entrances where you have to show the guards your ID.

I would suggest going if you believe this is your only shot at PT school, and if you can afford it. It seems like you should be able to since you applied there.

Most of what I have read about LIU is similar to what you said. The program seems expensive but if I get accepted, I will most likely attend since I don't have the luxury of being picky ): And I rather not go through the process of re-applying.

I am concerned about the interview since it's a group interview, haha. I will have to definitely do my fair share of research.

Thanks for the info!
