I’m a second year vet student at LIU CVM and I’m curious about everyone’s clinical year experience. I know things change and every student has a different experience, but overall, I just want to get an idea of what it’s like. I appreciate any and all info, thanks so much 🙂
1. How long are rotations? 2, 3, 4 weeks long?
2. How early do you start planning and filling out the rankings for the clinical rotation sites?
3. How are the schedules like? I’m sure some places are 9-5 no weekends and some are on-call and overnight, but generally, what should I expect?
4. How does the system actually work? Do you rank places and then you get a set schedule once everyone submits? Can you switch locations and trade with other students?
5. How do breaks work?
6. How do you go about housing? How often are you provided housing, and what do you do if you have a family/animals back in New York?
