LizzyM score: how many points within your score is considered a "match" with your stats?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
+/-2 MCAT +/- 0.5 GPA imo.

Not sure how accurate LizzyM score is because like you could have a 515/4.0 and be a 'match' for 520+ mcat medians, but then again I'm not so sure since ECs matter a lot more at those schools. But I think applying within your score interval(s) is 'match'

I know no med school is a match for anyone. Talking stats only
My rule of thumb is that if you're at their 25th %ile, you're competitive.

Above 10th %ile, in striking distance.

But for the REALLY Top Schools, as close to median as possible

The LizzyM score is like aspirin for arthritis. It was better than nothing when that's all we had but there are much better alternatives. For matching yourself to schools, I recommend WARS.
Thanks! Very helpful!

What if your overall is around median, but once subsection is at or below 10th %ile?

A 123 CARS score is < 10th %ile for every MD school I've seen listed in MSAR. A 124 score isn't necessarily lethal, but a 123 seems to be, unless one's app has some other factors that will overcome this.

SDNer's are advised to not think in terms of single metrics.
