Hey All,

I am actually a pre-vet SDNer but I have a few questions that I think those of you going to LMU may have some answers to. As you may know, they have just recently developed a vet school program and are recruiting their first class to which I have been offered acceptance. Since there are no "upperclassmen" to ask about the school, I thought I would pose my questions to those of you in their DO program especially since apparently we'll be sharing some classes.

For one, what do you think of the school itself?
How is the area? - Although I thought the campus was BEAUTIFUL, I don't consider myself a "country girl" so that has me a little bit concerned. Are there any city people attending that can discuss the adjustment?
What do you think of the faculty?
Any other things you would want someone to know before attending there?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! I loved the school, but I am definitely carefully weighing all of my options. This whole process is rough!

Thanks! 🙂

It is a beautiful place to live, especially if you like to hike or run. However, like you, I love the city. Living in the country has been stressful at times, but honestly, it's really good to focus on studying. And even though you're in the middle of nowhere, it doesn't feel like it sometimes. The student body and the school is always doing something. There's a really cheap theater and a bowling alley. The grad school dorms actually have a bar in them that's open on some weekends. Don't get me wrong, I'm ready to move back to the city, but for 2-3 years, it's doable. You'll make friends and they'll make you survive.

As far as faculty, I love them. They're basically all super helpful and have an open door policy.

I'm unaware of your relationship situation, but that is the downfall of this place if you're in one. There really aren't any jobs for an significant other here unless he/she is a nurse or something.

Feel free to hit me up if you have anything else to ask. I actually have a friend that will be starting LMU's vet school in the fall.
