Hey guys, I just got offered an interview at LMU and was wondering a few things. First they say Knoxville is the airport of choice. Is this the only option to get there or are there better options available? Second, any suggestions on booking a flight there i.e., places like expedia or anything of the nature. Thanks guys and gals, this is my second interview, so I'm still learning.

Well I'm from Knoxville so I'll see if I can help. I would say knxville is the best and only option for flying in.

Cheap tixs, good luck, knoxville is a small airport so it is spendy, if you are up for a drive the best option is to fly into nashville on southwest or someone and then drive, but that is a long drive. Book way in advance, where are you coming from

I agree. I'm not from Knoxville but I went to school there for 3 years. Knoxville airport is pretty much it unless you desire to fly into Nashville and rent a car or Greyhound to Knoxville. Definitely not advisable. It is really expensive to fly there unfortunately. I haven't been back to visit since I graduated in '01 because of that.

I couldn't find anything better than knoxville. I used Kayak.com and the best I could do from philly was about $240.

You can fly into Tri-cites. I think it is in Bristol. The drive is a little bit longer than it is from Knoxville though and the road from Knoxville to Harrogate is a better one. I don't know of the best way to get a good rate though. Good luck on your interview!!! 🙂

If you are in a Southwest city (the airline), it's a very good bet that you could fly into Nashville, rent a car, and pay for your hotel room for much less than it would cost you to fly into Knoxville.

Another option would be Louisville.

We flew KC to Nashville more times than I care to remember from December to June....but we almost have a free flight.

I agree with what you've been told on here so far. Knoxville is a small airport and it is very pricey. Actually, $240 for a ticket is a steal 😱 😳 For something cheaper, I would choose either Nashville or Louisville and fly Southwest. I have not made the drive to Nashville from DCOM, but I think it is about 30 minutes or so longer from louisville. I will be flying out of Louisville next week and would recommend their airport. It is a real easy drive, about 3.5 hours to DCOM.

nashville to harrogate is a looong drive...take the earliest flight you can.

If you really pushed it, you could make Nashville to Harrogate in 3.5 hours...

I would plan on 4. It's pretty much right at 2.5 from Nashville to West Knoxville.

That being said, it's a pretty stress free drive.

I agree with the posts here, Nashville is cheap to fly into and Louisville is pretty cheap as well. The drive from Nashville to Harrogate is 3.5 - 4 hours (I have done this trip several times) and according to map quest Louisville is about 3.5 hours. Atlanta and Cincinnati are also 4 hours away so check there as well. I would consider these as alternates they only add 2 - 3or so hours to your drive. Also book your hotel early, there are only like 3 hotels in Middlesboro and they fill up fast. The Holiday Inn Middlesboro is nice and Cumberland Gap Inn (in Cumberland Gap TN) is in a very beautiful spot and right by the LMU DCOM dorms.

Take a look at flight prices to the Tri-Cities Airport. It's about an hour and a half drive, so that would be a better option than Nashville provided the prices are fair.

I was able to find a fairly priced ticket from Denver to Knoxville. It was a little cheaper using some of the Discount places. Thanks for the input though. It is very much appreciated.

I don't think so. I would recommend either flying into Nashville, Louisville, or Knoxville, or driving from IL. The trip from Chicago to DCOM is about 8 hours.

Yeah I think it does depend on where in Illinois you live. Of course most people live in Chicagoland so I would just go with what Nascardoc said. From Southern Illinois it's about a six hour drive and from central about 7 hours, give or take.

Thank god, I was able to lock down a room for 10/18 and 10/19. I had problems at first. I got a room at Downtown INN and Suites...PHEW... Nascar, I didnt know you guys were having your white coat ceremony and building dedication on the 20th. Thats great. I would love to come see that. 👍

WOW, I didn't put the two dates together. You are VERY lucky to have found something. I don't see why you wouldn't be able to watch the ceremonies, so check it out if you can. It will definitely be a very cool day 😎
