hi . can someone clear my doubt!😕
I am applyng to a dental school. I dont know if i will be able to get loan for the dental school in full. I dont even have a cosigner. I am not working.
Is it possible for me to get 300k loan for dental school without any cosigner or any parental income?

I have never heard of someone not being able to complete dental school because of inability to get money. You certainly won't live like a king with the money they normally approve, but it's enough. Most entering students have little to no credit built up prior to dental school. And you have to give your parents information regardless of their financial help to you. In short, money will take care of itself. You will likely have to receive four or five loan types and renew them all during the four years, but everyone else can do it, so why not you. I'm a fully independent 26 year old (in debt prior to dental school) and it's not a problem.

I have been able to borrow enough money to cover my entire cost of attendance (tuition + expenses + living budget) through federal government loans -- Stafford and Grad PLUS. No co-signer -- I just submitted my income and tax information on the FAFSA.

Do you have terrible credit? For the Grad Plus loan, you need to have no credit or better (no credit is better than bad credit). Federal loans do not require a cosigner.

It's getting very difficult to get a credit these days, because of the current credit crisis.

Dow Jones dropped almost 800 points today, the highest drop in a single day in it's history. This adds more pressure to banks lending any money to consumers, which means it will be very tough to get any kinds of loans (car, home, small business, basically anything under the umbrella). I think this will easily effect private loans for school, but not fed loans.

Get a co-signer with a very strong credit, you should be fine.

I barrowed about 200k without any previous credit history, no cosigner necessary. I was concerned about that too, but the bottomline is if you're willing to barrow, there will be someone out there willing to loan.

Just consider at least becoming an officer in the military-- they pay for your entire tuition, fees, books plus 1600 mo to live while in school. It doesn't matter whether tuition is 150k or 250k it is covered. I did not do the military because I am lucky enough to be in a state school, I will graduate around 195k in debt next year. If I went to NYU or some private school there is absolutely no question, I would join the Navy or Army. Yeah you might go overseas for 1 year but you'll be in a cushy dental clinic. Debt sucks.

Sure. Fed loans will give you $47k a year = about $180k. The rest, you get it from private loans, instutional loans, etc. In your situation, you need a co-signer.
