I could not imagine anyone involved with optometry not supporting this, regardless of where you plan to practice. As far as I understand, dentists, pharmacists, and medical students have access to loan repayment plans if they practice in "under-served" areas. Optometry had a plan like this but it was cut in the early 2000s because of budget. So please sign this petition to reinstate the plan for optometry.
